Jax's new chair

We put a "moon chair" in Jax's room last night and he is totally loving it. Every time he goes into his room, he runs directly up to it and goes, "My big chair." Last night I couldn't get him to sleep in his own bed, so he just slept in the moon chair instead. SO CUTE! Had to grab pictures, of course! LOL

Some fun pics

Brianne Kay and Ty
Me and Jax wrestling

Handsome Hunter

Eli went on his first hunting trip 2 weeks ago. He had a "perty" shot that hit a cow elk... we are looking forward to making some jerky and ...whatever else you use elk for... soon! I spared you some of the pictures of the cleaning, but if for some reason you are interested, email me and I can send you the pics of him cleaning her out!

Serious Ty

... and silly Jax!

Ty Smiles

I have never seen a baby that smiles as much as Ty has been smiling lately! I am certain that I am not the only mom who feels this way about her child, but here is a cute picture to back up my claim! :)

Wednesday at the Zoo

Last Wednesday, we found out last minute that there was a free day at the Phoenix Zoo! What's a girl to do??
Well, I packed up the 2 kids and hit the road toward Phoenix (it is about an hour drive). We had a great time! It was really warm (very high 90s, maybe even breaking triple digits) but we were lucky--the zoo has splash parks dotting different areas around the exhibits. Jax had a great time running in and out of the water, trying to cool off.

We were all pretty worn out after only an hour and a half, but Jax did not want to leave without seeing the giraffes or zebras. He also, however, did not want to walk anymore (understandable--he's still a little guy!) and I was getting tired of carrying him while pushing Ty in the stroller! On a whim I decided to check out the prices of the train ride that drives by all of the "major" exhibits. It was my lucky day--only $2 to ride, and kids 3 and under ride free! I was very happy about that. Funny enough, I think Jax's favorite animal was the big black crow that sat next to him by the train while we were waiting for the tour to begin!

We had a great time and I am so glad we went. Going alone with 2 kids was an adventure, to say the least! But we have some fun memories.Jax fell asleep before we could even pull out of the parking lot. Overall, a very fun day!

Meet Maxx!

Meet Maxx!
Call me crazy, and it would probably be true. We got ourselves another dog! Because we figured we weren't busy enough, and I couldn't resist when I saw his ad on craigslist. He is a sweetheart! We have had him in our house for almost a week now and we just love him. Cosmo is still around, and isn't so sure whether or not he is going to like this new "brother" or not. But Jax and Maxx are total buddies, following one another around and even watching "I Spy" together (although Jax is ENTIRELY too close to the TV in this picture! LOL).
Maxx has a funny personality and is love to be around. He is a 3 1/2 year-old yellow lab (beautiful, in my opinion). We have his AKC certification with a geneology file going back about 5 generations. He has been great so far, not even an accident in the house. He spends the night at the foot of our bed on the floors, but usually ends up wandering into Jax's room at some point to check on him and sometimes sleeps at the foot of his bed.

He is playful and well-behaved. Hasn't added any stress yet! We are keeping our fingers crossed that he continues to be such a great new addition to our family. Love you already, Maxx!
PS. He came with the name... we didn't choose "Jax and Maxx" to be cheesy!

Cute as a Bug!!

You can't tell me that you have seen anything much cuter than these pictures! Okay, I admit that I am extremely biased because they are my boys but I was so happy that Kallee snapped these super cute pictures of our swimming day last week! It was Ty's first time in the pool and he loved it! He fell asleep and just floated around in the lady bug float (Sorry Ty, not the most manly float but we did the best we could. It could be worse). Jax is getting more confident in the water. We had a great time while Eli took a short break from his 8 hour study day! YAY!

Lazy Days of Summer

We have spent a significant amount of time this summer just hanging out in the backyard and enjoying the green grass! Jax loves to sit out on our old camping chairs and ... I dunno... ponder the complex mysteries that churn in a 2-year-old's head! Here is a classic picture of Jax running in his shirt and "big boy hulks" (underwear)... we are in the process of potty training and he loves "putting hulk on his bum!" (He has marvel comic book underwear and his favorite features Hulk). It cracks me up!!

Rain Game

It doesn't rain very often in Arizona (are you surprised?), so we are always very excited when we have a few drops. Lately, with it being Monsoon season, we have had some pretty good storms. Jax has also been enjoying the rain because every time there is a single drop he strips down to his diaper, puts on his rain boots and runs in the rain! He loves it, and so does Eli

.

I Spy a Birthday

Jax had a birthday last month, and we celebrated by making him a cake with a scene from his favorite show- I Spy. If you look you will see him enjoying his chocolate cake! Following tradition, we let him sit on the floor and go at it. He had a great time!
Digging in!

I LOVE CHOCOLATE!

Here's a picture of the cake. There is Spyler (the crazy dude with hair) and CeCe (the "dog") with lots of items that they have "spied".... the show is based off of the classic "I Spy" books that we've all grown up on!

Some may call it a "fortnight"...

...but it only lasted one afternoon. Jax seemed to be going stir crazy yesterday (side note: in Arizona, things are backwards. We have to hibernate during the summer and enjoy the outdoors in the winter. Coming from Utah, it feels like we are officially on our 8th month of hibernation with a quick break during April and May), and I was trying to think of something for us to do together. Remembering how much fun he had when Daddy (Eli) set up a tent in his room a few nights ago, I pulled our kitchen table into our living room and draped it with blankets. Tah-dah! Jaxon's first fort! We connected the blankets to our TV, coffee table, and dining chairs to make different tunnels we could crawl through. We lined the inside flooring with blankets and brought down our pillows. We even put Cosmo's bed in our fort so that he would hang out with us. Jax was kind enough to want Ty to come inside so we pulled him in with his bouncer. We grabbed a bunch of Jax's favorite books, some water and some goldfish crackers, and settled in for a fun afternoon (Jax even suckered me into letting him have his "soother"... or binkie, for those who aren't Canadian). And, of course, what's a boy gonna do without his favorite boots? Those came in the fort too.Surprisingly, the fort lasted virtually the whole afternoon with us crawling in and out and doing lots of activities in there. It came to a screeching halt when Jax tried to climb from the coffee table to the top of the dining table via the draped blankets--below is a picture of the results. He laughed it off, but we decided it was time to clean up. It made for a very fun afternoon!

Happy Happy Birthday, Eli dear!

Eli's birthday was last Saturday, but I was out of town. We didn't have a chance to celebrate until this week. I made him a cake that was sort of modeled after one of his favorite hats. It didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but it was still okay. All that matters is that we had cake and got to celebrate!
So, Happy Birthday, old man! You are 27!!!!! Hope your wish comes true!
