Some may call it a "fortnight"...
...but it only lasted one afternoon. Jax seemed to be going stir crazy yesterday (side note: in Arizona, things are backwards. We have to hibernate during the summer and enjoy the outdoors in the winter. Coming from Utah, it feels like we are officially on our 8th month of hibernation with a quick break during April and May), and I was trying to think of something for us to do together. Remembering how much fun he had when Daddy (Eli) set up a tent in his room a few nights ago, I pulled our kitchen table into our living room and draped it with blankets.
Tah-dah! Jaxon's first fort! We connected the blankets to our TV, coffee table, and dining chairs to make different tunnels we could crawl through. We lined the inside flooring with blankets and brought down our pillows. We even put Cosmo's bed in our fort so that he would hang out with us. Jax was kind enough to want Ty to come inside so we pulled him in with his bouncer.
We grabbed a bunch of Jax's favorite books, some water and some goldfish crackers, and settled in for a fun afternoon (Jax even suckered me into letting him have his "soother"... or binkie, for those who aren't Canadian). And, of course, what's a boy gonna do without his favorite boots? Those came in the fort too.
Surprisingly, the fort lasted virtually the whole afternoon with us crawling in and out and doing lots of activities in there.
It came to a screeching halt when Jax tried to climb from the coffee table to the top of the dining table via the draped blankets--below is a picture of the results. He laughed it off, but we decided it was time to clean up. It made for a very fun afternoon!
Happy Happy Birthday, Eli dear!
So, Happy Birthday, old man! You are 27!!!!! Hope your wish comes true!

Singin' HOT HOT HOT!
We have had some serious temperatures out here the last couple of weeks! We've spent much of our time under "severe heat warnings"... which I didn't even know existed until we moved down here! Most of the time we just stay inside and hibernate in the air conditioning, but sometimes we play with Jax in the little blow-up kiddie pool we have out on our patio. Here is a cute pic of him while we were swimming.
As a side note, I think it got down to the 70s last night, which was incredible! I opened the door to let our dog out this morning and it was actually cooler outside than inside. I had to close the door and open it back up again just to remember (once more) what it felt like to open the door and not feel blasted by the heat. Most of the time, when we go outside, opening the door is a similar experience to opening the door to the oven-Beware of scalding hot air blowing directly into your face!

Rain in Arizona??
Eli came home from work last week and immediately took Jax into the backyard. I glanced out the back door to see the two of them running around and splashing in the rain! We haven't seen a drop of rain in Arizona since we moved down here, and it was SO refreshing to feel the cool rain. It didn't cool the weather too much (still high 90s I'd guess), but I'll take a rainy night in Surprise any day!

Catching Up...
I have also been lucky enough to have some serious live-in help this entire time. My mom was here for about 3 weeks, then Diana (my mother-in-law) came out for 10 days.
My old roommate and best friend Jo brought her fiancee out for 5 days--it was great to catch up with them!
More recently, my little sister Lexi came and stayed for about 2 1/2 weeks. We had the best time just hanging out and playing with the boys.
I have really appreciated all of the help! They all made the transition to 2 kids go so smoothly, and made some really lasting fun memories with me and my kids!!
